Excellent Book For All Ages
I read Mrs. Mike when I was a young girl. It was a paperback and when it was lost, it was tattered from many readings. I've had friends and family helping me look for it ever since. I was sooo excited when a friend told me she'd found it on this site. Then to find that not only was it in hardback but it also contained the sequel which I'd never read...well you can imagine my delight. I ordered it immediately...I couldn't wait to read it...I was NOT disappointed...Mrs. Mike is just as good as I remember. It has not lost anything with time, and The Search for Joyful was a very good book as well. I highly recommend this book to readers of all ages. They are both very fascinating. I could hardly put them down.
Mrs. Mike is about a young girl from Boston, MS, with pleurisy, who is sent by her mother to Canada to live with her uncle in Calgary, Alberta for her health. She meets Sgt. Mike Flanagan, a Royal Canadian Mountie, while he's on leave and they fall in love and get married before he goes back to his post. This book is about her many struggles and hardships.
The Search for Joyful is about Sgt. and Mrs. Mike's adopted Indian granddaughter's search for her Indian self. Again I HIGHLY recommend these books to everyone.
