I was first introduced to Edwin Way Teale's writings as a child in the 50's. After re-reading Springtime in Britain last year, I decided to acquire all his published works and fell in love with this one. I bought a second copy as soon as I finished it because I knew I would want to re-read it many time and would wear the first copy out. It is daily excerpts from the diaries he kept over many years while living on his farm in Conn. (now owned by the Audubon Society). I?d recommend reading A Naturalist Buys an Old Farm prior to reading this book so you will know what went into the making of the farm. Also, if you haven?t read his Pulitzer Prize winning four book Seasons Across America series ? Wandering Through Winter, North with the Spring, Journey into Summer and Autumn Across America ? they are a joy to read.
