I encountered this book years ago when my high school daughter brought it home as her astronomy text. I found it so clear and helpful I used it when I taught middle school astronomy. I re-bought copies now for my grandchildren. I recommend it highly.

Stars in my head!!
I go out where I can see lots of stars, but not until someone on a dive boat had this book, and it was so easy to understand, I think this is the third copy I have purchased, mainly for kids, and sailors...Mr. Rey is a favorite author of mine from back when my kids read Curious George books. thanks for locating this one for me, again. Best Book for Introductory Stargazing
H.A.Rey has created the most intelligent method I've seen for making sense out of the several thousand stars visible without binoculars or telescopes. Identifying the major Northern hemisphere constellations is made simpler with his creative explanations and matching star charts with and without the constellations drawn. Complicated topics become easily understood with his clear and enjoyable writing style. And an updated chart identifies the zodiac constellations where the other can be found through until 2016. This purchase replaces my thirty-year-old copy of Rey's original book because its old planet charts were long out of date. An ideal book for the cottage or to take along on camping trips where the night sky is less light-polluted.
