Widely used for over two decades, A New Approach to Sight Singing contains original melodies composed by the authors for the express goal of teaching sight singing. The new edition retains the user-friendly organization professors and students love. New to the Fifth Edition are more exercises in atonal and post-tonal twentieth-century idioms, a section of unpitched rhythmic exercises, and a topical index that makes key concepts easy to find.

I am a freshman music major, and we use this text in our ear training class. We utilize this book every day, and each day we effectively become better musicians. The melodies are perfectly organized in order of difficulty, and it is continuously interesting to use due to the variety of the melodies. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, even if you are just a music hobbyist who wants to learn to sight sing!

Thorough approach, beautiful melodies!
As a new student in this area I have appreciated the gradual and thorough approach of this book in my classes. The melodies are simply beautiful and so well written to target specific needs, both melodic and rhythmic. The beauty and creativity of the melodies is a tremendous inspiration and motivation in the discovery of new melodies as we keep progressing forward into harder music. It also keeps the old melodies and their specific challenges fresh in our minds and fixes what we are learning more and more into our aural memory.
