Seller's Description:
Very Good in Very Good jacket. Book Royal octavo, hardcover, near fine in near fine black and white pictorial dj. First printing. 498 pp. including index. Photographic endpapers. Using oral biography, a technique that perfectly matches the style of his subject, George Plimpton blends the voices of Capote's lovers, haters, acquaintances, and colleagues into a captivating and highly readable narrative.
I really have enjoyed this book. I like the way Plimpton has taken the words of many of Capote's friends, relatives, enemies, etc, and written a biography (or, more truthfully, edited a biography) with them. It is interesting to see events in Capote's life as viewed by several different people. I think this method gives a much broader picture of how Capote was viewed by his contemporaries than a regular biography would. Highly interesting!!
