Rabbit is seventeen years old. He is the son of the medicine man, and his apprentice. He decides he must go on his vision quest, the first step into manhood. During his vision quest he dreams about a wild stallion. When he returns from his vision quest, he discusses his dream with his father and grandfather. It is decided he should go look for his dream horse. His grandfather entrusts him with the Spanish bit, the revered "elk-dog medicine" of his people to help him find the horse. He journeys many days into unknown lands looking for the horse. He is ambushed by Blue Paints who take his horse, the Spanish bit, and leave him for dead. This story is about how he takes back his horse and the Spanish bit, captures the wild stallion, and finds his true love; almost all at the same time. A fun book
