I listened to the UNABRIDGED version on CD and rated this one of the best thrillers I have heard. Don't get the abridged audiobook versions - in fact I strongly recommend never buying abridged versions of anything. How can you get the whole book on 5cds when the full unabridged version is 10cds long? The tension in this book is steady and menacing. It's intelligent and relies on psychology and excellent characterisation to build tension. You really care about the characters rather than just a wham bang action thriller, It's just superb, as are his following three books, LOST (don't get the abridged version marketed as DROWNING MAN) THE NIGHTFERRY and SHATTER. The Nightferry wasn't quite as excellent as the other three but still very good. Robotham is up there with James Lee Burke or Michael Connelly, but very different and original too. This is far more English than American (even though he is Australian) Anyway ...Get them and enjoy.
