Annihilation is the real gem in this trilogy, with authority and acceptance being a lot more of just an endurance test of wordy, mostly pointless tedium. I'm only ranking this 3/5 because of how much I liked that first book. If you want a bit more reasoning behind it, go look up my reviews on the separate books.
