This is a book written the way a good friend would describe the travels he has made. The specific landscapes are there but the choicest parts are the encounters with the people. Wonderful stories that made me want to embark on a trip somewhere. Great writing.

Not only a "nature" tale
Ian Frazier presents his impressions of the Great Plains as a whole portion of the central states but more interesting is his interaction with various Indians and their take on their history. This book makes you want to go and see this area yourself, for beauty, for history and for the open sky and plains. A Very Good Read.
