Excerpt from The Story of Jewad: A Romance The volume entitled Muklzayyalat - z' Lea'uh-z' Ilalli, a name which may be rendered by Phantasms from the Divine Presence, ' con sists of three distinct stories, each styled a Mukkayyal or Phantasm.' All three have several secondary tales, as is the case in so many Eastern works of fiction. The first Mukimyyal consists for the most part of a series of incidents taken from various roman ces in The Thousand and One Nights, and woven together into a connected whole. There is little alteration in the tales as here presented, save in the proper names. The second and longest M uklzayyal is the story of Jewad. The third, a very good story, contains the wonderful adventures of an Egyptian prince called Naji-bi-'llah and his son Dil-i Agah.
