I had read this book years ago and again once for my book group. I ordered this copy for a 20-something poet friend, as I feel it is something every literate citizen of the Southwest should read. Abbey was a reclusive, curmudgeonly, poetic visionary who really loved the beautiful dry desert lands that I also love. He's a really good writer and I would recommend this book to any desert-lover, and to anyone who would like to read a snapshot of a specific time now past.
