Sandra Boynton's board book of this classic counting tale has a plethora of toddler-pleasin' hippo silliness! This fun and educational story is one of my 18 month old daughter's favorites, and it is among the books I credit with her beginning to understand numbers (up to 5!) at her young age. Best read aloud with strong emphasis on the counting aspect, while snuggling with your little one(s). Bonus treats for parents include little visual jokes only adults would get (such as the bored looking caterer hippos coming to the party to work).
