This was the second Judith Tarr's book I read (Throne of Isis mofe than 10 years ago). I am keely aware of this being a work of fiction and therefore liberties have been taken. However, being a great fan of Wilbur Smith and Pauline Gedge I was pleasantly surprised by how easily Judith Tarr (no doubt aided by her in-depth knowledge of the subject) transported me to daily life in Ancient Egypt where I was faced with very familiar and certainly still contemporary human strengths and frailties in the context of this period of archaeologically acknowledged historical upheaval.
I found it very hard to put this book down and regretfully arrived at final page 509 within 3 days of marathon reading. I have since ordered and just received The White Mare's Daughter which I intend to curl up with over the Holidays.
