I purchased The NIV Interlinear Hebrew-English Old Testament for research purposes only. John Kohlenberger changed the traditional Masoretic Hebrew Old Testament text based on "conjectual emendation" in many places. For example, in Genesis 4:8 the words "Let us go out into the field" was added to the text itself instead of the margin when no Masoretic text extant has it-no Hebrew authority for it. Kohlenberger says, "This Hebrew reading and translation is conjectured on the basis of the early versions listed above in Note 1." A devout Jew would never do such a thing. But Zondervan is owned by a known pronographer Rupert Murdoch who recieves 1% of all of their sales. Wow. For another example see Genesis 47:21. So, I would not recommend this book to anyone. Check out the Sammaritan Pentateuch-that is how the Sammaritan's faired in Scripture to see if in fact God would use their text-not even Hebrews'.
