This book is a nice collection of differing ethical viewpoints. It seems to capture, and fairly treat almost all of the ethical philosophies. However, there is no index which makes it very hard to find a particular author or ethical viewpoint. . There are a couple of comments that the editor-authors make concerning the early Christian period of time that have me a bit concerned for some readers. They actually write (believe?) that many of the ethical standards cannot be used today because the Judeo-Christian society was chiefly an agrarian society. . I very much disagree in that that society was just as "metropolitan" as it is today and such statements can lead people astray. . Just because we wear tennis shoes instead of sandals does not change the fact that for millions of years, man has had to make the same decisions concerning lying, cheating, stealing, and pleasure as they do today. I would wager that man will still be wrestling with these same ethical questions a for many more centuries too. . This is a great book that will get you to sit back and make you reflect on your own ethical standings, especially if this book is used for a class on ethics.
