Graham Lock's excellent book, "Forces In Motion " goes a long way toward enabling the interested listener into a greater appreciation of the oft-misunderstood 20th Century Icon, Anthony Braxton. Lock accompanied Braxton's quartet on a U.K. tour in the early 1980's, allowing him to conduct over 10 hours of interviews with the master himself as well as in depth talks with the other members of the group. He also witnessed and took notes on all of the concerts, lectures, workshops etc. When you have finished reading this book, you feel like you know a lot more about Braxtons's music, history, and philosophy !
