A true and a false version of the story of the origin of the book are in circulation, but in a dis torted and incorrect fashion. The Mormon faith having its groundwork in the pages of the Golden Bible, it becomes a matter of no inconsiderable interest to cull the truth from the heterogeneous collection of myths and fables which have purported to give the history of the volume. We shall produce abundant testimony on both sides, giving the official record of the divine authenticity which the Mormons claim for the work, and offsetting that record with the Gentile version establishing each statement from the certified authority, and weighing the evidence on both sides of the question, with a careful regard to the elimination of the facts.
