Soon after graduating, he went to Europe, and entered the banking-house of George Peabody. He returned in 1858, and entered the house of Blake, Broth ers, Co., bankers and brokers. In 1859, Blake again went to England, returning early in 1860. In April, 1860, he began the banking business in New York, in connection with the Boston firm.
