As with most of Derrida's work, he takes his readers into uncharted territories with topical and thematic concerns that seem quite distanced from the practical aspects of living in this world. Having said that, however, the relationship between self and the world, world and the self, is the relationship between a 'beast' (i.e., the body) and a 'sovereign' (i.e., an authority figure whether of self or of the world). A difficult but rewarding reading if one is willing to work through the underlying thematic dynamics of Derrida's style.
