Seller's Description:
Fine in Fine jacket. 8vo., 119pp. Beautiful First Edition of the third book in the Flashman series. Bound in black cloth with titles in gilt on spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. Equally attractive unclipped dust jacket, (£3.50 net), is fresh and bright with no chipping, creases, toning or tears. Inscribed, signed and dated byt eh author on the flyleaf, "John Baxter-Greetings from Free* capitalist England. Brian Aldis '79. *just about". Though not confirmed, this John Baxter is almost certainly the noted Australian writer, journalist, and film-maker who started out as a science fiction writer. This book was acquired at the iconic Shakespeare & Co. in Paris, (with their label on the front of the jacket protector), and John Baxter has lived in Paris for many years. Publisher's review slip laid in. A very pretty collectable copy at a great price.
