Lucy Montgomery, creator of Anne of Green Gables, here shares 14 of her best short stories. Some are humorous, some sentimental, all with her gift for description of the beautiful. From a haunted garden to a haunted past, from the hilarious hi-jinks of a couple of rascally boys to reunited lovers, from the behind-the-scenes background of a wedding to the unsuspected memories of a dying woman, from sibling rivalry to assumed identities, these stories are a delight, all but two with happy endings, and some with an unexpected twist. Anne and her family appear now and then, though they are not the main characters. This is an enjoyable read from one of my favorite authors.
