This is a very poorly researched history of empires. The author completely fails to understand the origins of The Great War but uses his faulty analysis in his treatment of the NAZI Reich. He also fails to understand the role of the army in his description of the Roman Empire and is unable to present a convincing argument for Rome's economic decline. The lack of a bibliography is typical of the quality of his scholarship.
