It was genuinely fun to read Saroyan's stories, something I have been wanting to do for many years, as my mother had owned the book. It's always informative to read about so-called minorities, but Saroyan's point of view is of a minority within a minority.

Stories from Fresno, 1915-1925
My Name is Aram is a collection of semi-autobiographical short stories set in Fresno, California between 1915 and 1925. The main character of these stories is an Armenian-American boy by the name of Aram Garoghlanian. In the introduction, author William Saroyan states that no character in the book is a portrait of any real person living or dead, as the saying is, and, neither is any person in this book a creation of fiction. Still, one can assume that author William Saroyan is the character of Aram. Some themes developed in the book include honesty, industry, tolerance, and love of family. I really enjoyed this book a great deal as it depicts a time very much different from our own and provides a unique perspective of a way of life that is now, for the most part, a thing of the past.
