Early on Carl Sandburg wrote a four volume version of "Abraham Lincoln: The Prairie Years and the War Years." In 1957, those four volumes were condensed to two volumes of the same name. As he should, Sandburg lovingly told Lincoln's history from beginning to end. Sandburg is one of our greatest storytellers and Lincoln has the greatest story to tell, about how he saved the Union and freed us all by freeing slaves. A great value and a stunning read.
