Another Doc Ford marine adventure
In the first scene in Dark Light, our favorite mild mannered marine biologist/cold-blooded assassin gets the snot beat out of him. After a dozen or so novels, is Doc Ford finally getting old and soft? Maybe. With a Doc Ford novel, you pretty much know what you're going to get: a little natural science, a bit of hippy philosophy, a pinch of houseboat culture and some fishing. Overall this series has been remarkably consistent and especially excels when the action is on the water. Between hurricanes and rough seas, there's enough water in Dark Light to keep things interesting. In the end, though, I couldn't help but wonder if the end is nearing for Ford. I personally would love to see White try out a new character.
