Many kinds of love
A first novel by a poet, this is a delightful exploration of several kinds of love. Cornelia, who has settled for a job as a cafe manager because, well, she can't figure out anything else to do with her life, is trying very hard to fall in love with a man who looks like Cary Grant. The title is not fortuitous. "Cary" has walked into the cafe. His daughter walks into Cornelia's life when her mother, Cary's ex, walks out. In Cornelia's wonderful family, you experience parental and sibling love. There is love found late and love that has to sacrifice, love that finds itself in an unusual place. And all with characters you either love or can sympathize with. The author manages this with humor and a lightness of touch that never descend into sentimentality.
