This text gives equal emphasis to both geophysical and engineering fluid mechanics. For physicists, it contains chapters on geophysical fluid mechanics and gravity waves, for engineers, it has chapters on aerodynamics and compressible flow. Of common interest are chapters on governing equations, boundary layers, instability, and turbulence. This book also presents topics such as deterministic chaos and double-diffusive instability.

I found this book very useful for my graduate fluid mechanics class. Explanation and sample problems will help you for better understanding.
For undergraduate class, i think it wont be a good choice though.

Good book, but lack in details and physics
It is a fairly good book in Fluid Mechanics and have some great physical insights there. But compared to the incompressible fluid mechanics written by Panton, this book still lacks physics and discussions are not enough. If you can only afford one book, Panton's book is better choice.

Necessary for fluid mechanics
This book is a classic in fluid mechanics. All the basic equations and concepts are really good explained on it. It opens the doos of knowledge for those of you that want to keep going with titles such as Hydrodynamics of Lamb. It is a important book that gives you the basics and a bit more and helps you whenever you want to review any concept.
