Firebird is something of a different beast than you may have read before. Morwood tells a unusual but engrossing story of old Russia, switching smoothly between the historical and the downright sorcery. Knights meet witchcraft and alternate worlds are visited as the story flits backwards and forwards before all the threads come together for the satisfying finale.
The author's style can enter the extreme detail of thought and deed but still keeps the story interesting and engaging.
