The book centres around the concept of managing the critical functional parameters of a design and explains how these functional aspects can be evaluated prior to testing. In this way the book reflects modern thinking that quality must be incorporated into products before manufacturing. The author demonstrates how, through the establishment of a process to ensure that the quality of a product is monitored throughout its life-cycle, the expensive sequence of "design-build-test" could be reduced, thus enabling the manufacturer to deliver high quality products at a lower cost and in a shorter time.
