SYNOPSIS: LIFE ON THE SET OF A TELEVISION SHOW LIGHT-YEARS AHEAD OF ITS TIME. Starring in seventy-nine episodes and six feature films as Captain James T. Kirk, William Shatner is the leading man in the global cultural phenomenon known as Star Trek. In this in-depth, insider's expose, he reveals the backstage anecdotes, personal rivalries, and network politics that were carefully hidden behind the camera. Journey to the very beginning of the series, as the genius of Gene Roddenberry creates the first outlines of a science fiction show unlike anything produced before. Tour the set, where outrageous practical jokes bring much-needed breaks from an impossible shooting schedule. And hear members of the cast-Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, and Majel Barrett-Roddenberry-tell the stories of how they came aboard the USS Enterprise...and so much more. CONTAINS OVER 120 PHOTOGRAPHS AND ILLUSTRATIONS. Besides starring in seventy-nine television episodes and six feature films as Captain James Kirk, Montreal native William Shatner has appeared on Broadway in such hits as The World of Suzy Wong and A Shot in the Dark, in such films as The Brothers Karamazov and Judgment at Nuremberg, and on television in T. J. Hooker and Rescue 911. He is the coauthor of Believe and the author of four TekWar novels, which he is producing as a series of television movies for Universal. He is also the creator of William Shatner's TekWorld, a Marvel Comics publication. Chris Kreski is the coauthor (with Barry Williams) of Growing Up Brady. He is also MTV's editorial director, supervising the writing of the network's promos and specials, as well as penning episodes of the animated series Beavis and Butt-head.
this book showd a side to captian kirk, a softer side, that was not revieled in the media. it told of fond memorys, of other cast members, and the fun and heartache it was to be the icon, heartthrob, & the unemployed, captian of the enterprise! it was an insightful read into the life and times of william shatner.
