Admittedly, I live in New Mexico, so maybe this collection of essays is more meaningful to me than it would be to someone unfamiliar with the territory. I hadn't read any of Mr. Hillerman's work for several years until a friend loaned me this book. What a story teller! What an excellent writer. Simply said, I loved it.

I am a fan of Tony Hillerman's books.
I have missed sleep many times reading Tony Hillerman's books. This is a compost of short essays that lack the chance to do what Tony Hillerman does best...develop the story and get the reader involved. It is still good reading but not up to the standard of his books.
