Colwin's such a good writer that I stayed with the book even though at one point I was forcing myself. The characters are sharply drawn and she captures the lives of these upper Middle Class New Yorkers, focusing mainly on their romantic dreams and fulfillments. But for me, I need stories with characters who have an edge, whose lives have more ups and downs but this story lived up to the title. It felt like escapism for smart people.
