I had read this book in paperback, but wanted to add it to my library in hardcover. This was a good bird's eye view into the world of the privileged folks of S Carolina. Enjoyed the glimpse.

smiles all the way
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ ! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN THE MEDICAL PROFESSION TO APPRECIATE THE CONTEXT AND LIFE-STYLE OF THE CHARACTERS, NOR EVER HAVE TO TRAVEL TO CHARLESTON, TO BE ENGULFED IN ITS HISTORY. BUT YOU WOULD HAVE HAD TO SPENT SOME TIME AT A BEACH HOUSE IN ORDER TO FULLY ABSORB THE AUTHOR'S LOVE OF SUMMER AT THE BEACH, CLOSE FRIENDS, QUIET TIMES SPENT TOGETHER AND WITH COMPANY, AND THE SOMETIMES UNANSWERED REASONS WHY PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY DO ~~
