Luke Fitzwilliam found it hard to credit Miss Pinkerton's wild allegation that a multiple murderer was at work in the quiet English village of Wychwood - or her speculation that the local doctor was next in line. Although the language, and even some of the viewpoints put forward by the characters trying to solve the mystery, are dated, the basic story is still interesting, full of good plot twists. Those are what Christie was mostly interested in, more than character.
