Seller's Description:
G+ in VG+ jacket. G+/VG+. 8vo. plain brown gilt (ex-library with FFE excised, fore-corner of half-title clipped, single rsm to verso title page, tape marks to pastedowns, tanning to paperstock) in dustwrapper (price-clipped by publisher with replacement £9.95 label, spine a little sunned, but clean & unworn); pp. 372 (last blank). A good reading copy in a decent dustwrapper. The tenth Aubrey-Maturin novel.
This is another in the wonderful series of 20 maritime adventure/spy/battle/love stories created by Patrick O'Brian. Whenever possible, I recommend obtaining the single copy version of this series. The larger combined novels are poorly edited.
My only complaint: O'Brian died before bringing this narrative to a satisfying close. He had nearly done with Captain Jack Aubrey, but a whole new adventure awaited the complex Doctor Steven Maturin. Great reads!
