Seller's Description:
New -1 jacket. The first in a series to cover Proof of Settlement Certifictes for land sold under the act of 1792 that takes in land north of the Ohio river and west of the Allegheny, most of NW Pennsylvania. To get a patent the warrant holders had to prove they made a legal settlement for a period of 5 years, fenced and cleared 2 acres per 100, and lived on the land. Some of these entries describe the homesteads in great detail while others are more generic. There is a mountain of genealogical and historical data in them. The documents date from the early 1800s to the late 1860s and cover settlements as early as 1792. These records were abstracted from the Pennsylvania State Archives Land Records. Everyname indexes. Soft Cover, 2008, 8.5" x 11", Index, 166 pp.
