Winston Link photographed the Norfolk and Western when it was the last major steam railroad in the United States, when it was converting its operations from steam to diesel. His project spanned the years 1955 to 1960. This volume includes his most famous photographs like "Old Maude Bows to the Virginia Creeper" and "Hotshot Eastbound", and many posed tableaux taken at night. In addition to his classic images, Link's project encompassed portraits, candid images of N&W employees at work, moderninst images of locomotives, and more.
