The author, a Marquette, Michigan resident, teacher and historian, covers the history of Michigan's Upper Peninsula from its earliest years to the present. It is written in an approachable style and contains information derived from interviews as well as other written sources. Some information will not be found in other sources. This book was privately published by the author. It is bound in green cloth covers with gilt spine lettering and gilt cover decorations--this is a substantial and a a nicely produced work. It is a stated first printing of the first edition done in 1989. This second volume contains an index to the entire work. This book obviously belongs in any collection with an emphasis on Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and also will be appreciated by those seeking information that is not likely to be found elsewhere. A compendium of history unlike most others, it contains a vast amount of information. Much on the Huron Mountains, Logging, old timer's memories, etc. Each volume consists of two "books." In this second volume, "Book 3: The Andersens and the Yellow Dog Plains" and "Book 4: My Friends, Family and Life in These North Woods." The table of contents t lists the contents of both volumes. The size is: 10.25 high by 7.25 wide. Bound in the publisher's original green cloth binding with gilt spine and cover lettering and decoration.
