Pellegrino has enjoyed cooking for as long as he can remember. He began preparing simple foods at an early age. His experience as a Boy Scout gave him additional opportunities to cook over campfires and hot kitchen stoves, sometimes for large groups. During his high school and early college years, he worked as a short order cook, a bartender, a busboy, a soda jerk, and a cook at a private boy's camp in Canada. After moving to Hawaii in 1967, he became interested in the many multi-ethnic foods there, including Hawaiian dishes. Then after his travels to Asia, he began experimenting and perfecting dishes from India, China, Japan and Korea. Pellegrino, Professor Emeritus, taught writing and literature at Maui Community College for twenty-eight years. He has a B.S and M.S. degrees. See less
