Richard Detrich has been hooked on travel since spending three months as a student wandering around Europe on $4 a day. The next year he worked his way back on the cruise staff of a Dutch student ship and spent another three months, this time traveling more upscale on $5 a day. Detrich served over thirty years as a pastor, owned cruise only travel agencies in Southern California, was director of e-commerce for a large national fitness company, and sold real estate, the common skill being the ability to communicate. He has an AB, MDiv, MBA and a PhD in nonprofit/church administration. Richard and his wife both retired early and moved to Panama where they live in the mountains outside of Boquete. His wife's retirement project is growing coffee and Richard's is spending four to six months a year as a Destination Consultant on luxury cruise ships including Princess, Holland America, Celebrity, Crystal, Silversea and Pearl Seas. When not at sea he enjoys relaxing at home, writing, blogging, gardening, reading in the spa, and spending time with his wife and dogs. See less
