In 1978, Dr. Henry was one of the first physicians trained in emergency medicine to work in New York City. He chaired the first department of emergency medicine in New York City, chaired the New York City EMS Medical Advisory Committee, and was medical director of the first 24-hour paramedic service in Queens, New York. For more than 27 years, EMTs and paramedics have had the benefit of Dr. Henry's educational expertise. As an educator, speaker, and industry leader, Dr. Henry is well respected by students and peers worldwide. Dr. Henry has authored or coauthored more than 100 educational and research works, including journal articles and abstracts, textbooks, and book chapters over the course of his career. Dr. Henry is the current Medical Director of the EMS Program, New York State Department of Health; Chair of the New York State EMS Medical Advisory Committee; and Chair of the New York State EMS BioChem Terrorism Task Force. He is also Professor and Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Stony Brook University.
