John Stansfield
For more than thirty years, storyteller and author John Stansfield has recounted stories of notable people from Colorado history. His book Writers of the American West: Multicultural Learning Encounters (Teacher Ideas Press, 2002) earned a Colorado Authors' League Award and was a finalist for the Colorado Book Award. He previously wrote Enos Mills: Rocky Mountain Naturalist (Filter Press, 2005) for the Now YouKnow Bio series. Stansfield presents a one-man show reenacting the life of Enos Mills.He teaches storytelling as a member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. John spends his spare time working to protect Colorado's wild places. For these efforts, the Wilderness Society presented him an Environmental Heroes Award in2004. He and his wife, Carol, live in Larkspur, Colorado, on the high divide between the South Platte and Arkansas Rivers at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. See less
