Barbara Paulding was born in Hamilton, Iowa in "The Little Black House," a coalminer's shack covered in tarpaper. Her early life was spent in many different small, southern Iowa towns. Whenever she could, she spent time on her relative's farms, loving the peace and freedom of being in the country. Barbara Paulding was born in Hamilton, Iowa in "The Little Black House," a coalminer's shack covered in tarpaper. Her early life was spent in many different small, southern Iowa towns. Whenever she could, she spent time on her relative's farms, loving the peace and freedom of being in the country. When her mother's parents finally realized their dream of having their own land, Barbara's happiest childhood memories revolved around that little hard scrabble farm. Although her life has taken many twists and turns, Barbara has never lost her love of the land. Throughout her life she has struggled to find some way to live in the country, to live in peace. Barbara and her husband, Kirk Moody, live on a small acreage in southern Iowa. She has written a novel, Ghost Town Truck Stop, and a family anthology, Stories From My Father. See less
