Organizations, however, have been slow to capitalize on the potential of their women employees. In particular, they have frequently left undeveloped the human resource provided by their competent, promising female managers. To remain competitive, organizational leaders must recognize the valuable resource that women represent in management and administrative positions and use them effectively. Managers at all levels need to develop the attitudes and expertise to make full use of their female managers and professionals. Research can provide a recognition of these major issues involved and an understanding of how to deal with them, so that managers will become more effective in their roles. The overall aim of this book is to present a comprehensive overview of the current international research findings concerning women in management. The international group of eminent contributors highlight the major barriers and problems facing managers, discuss the individual and organizational consequences and recommend organizational and legislative changes. This book will contribute to a greater understanding of what true employment equality is and how it can be achieved.
