Arthur Upfield spent his life in Australia, and has written many "Bony" mysteries. Napoleon Bonaparte is half Aborigine and half "white" and combines the best of both races. I have read a few and I enjoy them very much.
This one is set in the harsh wilderness west of more settled areas of Australia. There are a series of murders which Napoleon has been (he is a a investigator for the police) dispatched to solve. The character involved are divided between the towns people and the "ranch" people. Bony is undercover (his usual way of investigating)....and he plans a great way of catching the murderer! Can't reveal much more than that...This is very light reading, but full of character and fun.
