It was an interesting story with some unusual twists and turns.
I like the characters: Abbess Helewise, Josse D'Aquin.
I recommend reading the series in order.
I like the real history that surrounds the fictional story.
In this one,Josse d'Acquin is taken to the Isle of Oxney where he meets an older man and his young wife who are desperate to have a child. Josse suggests the wife travel to The Abbey of Hawkenlye where Josse's friend, Abbess Helewise, and her nuns might help . Once there, the woman keep refuses an examination and keeps herself hidden. The husband arrives later, confused and sick. But for Josse, who comes later to the Abbey, something doesn't add up
