I love this book. Basically, I think of it as taking a whole series of watercolor classes all for the cost of the book (~ 16.00). It is basically a "copy this" method, but gives you step by step directions. Each stage of the watercolor is shaded in to show you where to paint next, and it tells you what mixes of colors to use. There are a lot of different styles of paintings to choose from, some more advanced than others.
I think some of the paintings in this book are more complicated than for a real beginner, but I am a beginner, and I enjoyed the challenge. I also learned a lot from my mistakes, and felt that it helped me to advance more quickly. I think this book is a bargain for what I gained from it. I took one watercolor class, but I learned a lot more from this book at a fraction of the cost. It's a great book that's a lot of fun.
