Bis 1948 hatten sich wichtige Weichenstellungen in der Politik, Wirtschaft oder im Elitentransfer vollzogen - zumeist legitimiert durch den Anspruch einer antifaschistisch-demokratischen Umwalzung. Dennoch steht das Jahr 1945 nicht fur eine Stunde Null . Der radikale politische und gesellschaftliche Umbruch schloss neben Bruchen auch Kontinuitaten ein. Weite Teile der Bevolkerung erlebten die Jahre 1943 bis 1949 als eine Zeit der extremen Ausnahmesituation und revolutionaren Umwalzung.
