John & Genna were touched upon in Brown-Eyed Girl. This is their story. They were involved for a time when John seemingly dropped off the face of the Earth. He had good reason - you will find out why in this book. He has a good reason to have taken 6 months to regroup. They must work a case together where women's bodies keep turning up. John runs a special unit and takes charge as he is able to get into the mind of serial killers like no other agent. Genna is brought along as she has the ability to sense things as if she were the victim. She has her back up and does not want to work with him due to her hurt. She goes and their spats are brought about by his memories and pain at the case that nearly did him in and lost her to him and her inability to let go of the hurt that he did not turn to her when he was in pain (and left he without a word). They work the case, each finding out what makes the other tick. Will they recover enough beyond the emotion when it comes up that Genna may be the next target? This book is a great read. Twists and their personal story are told very well and make you want to finish without putting down.
