The definitive book of Scottish patterns
If you have any curiosity about trhe fly patterns used in Scotland, this is a must-have book. Stan Headley is arguably the best tier of Scottish fly patterns (he's also one heck of a gillie--I've fished the Orkney trout lochs with him!), and he has produced the definitive book on the subject. Hundreds of small, but sharp, photos of the patterns, full descriptions, and lively, entertaining, and informative anecdotal material.
Once you've turned just a few pages, I predict you will be carrying the book to your tying bench to start tying Scottish flies. North American tiers may have an edge when it comes to designing, tying, and fishing dry flies, but the Scots will take a back seat to no one when it comes to wet flies. And Deadly Headley will take a back seat to no one when it comes to designing, tying, fishing, or knowing about Scottish patterns.
